LX 'A' TEAM WINS 
2008 KENNET LEAGUE LX DIVISION 2 EAST

 


The club's LX 'A' team won the 2008 Kennet League LX Division 2 East 
to gain promotion to Division 1 East
next season (2009).

The team was run by Bryan Humphries and headed the league from start to finish. 
The club's LX 'B' team finished a commendable fourth.

By winning the Division 2 East, the team progressed to the semi final of the overall
Kennet League LX Division 2 shield. On 20th August 2008 they faced Caversham 'A' 
(winners of Division 2 West Central) at Woodley where they won through to the final. 
The result was:

                                              John Zander, David Freeland and John Read (skip) won by 18 -  9
                                              Ron Lamb, Bryan Humphries, Tom Baldwin (skip)  lost  by 19 - 20
                                              Rob Gordon, Ron Lemon, David Hall (skip)             lost  by 13 - 14

 The final of the Division 2 shield was played against Faringdon at Three Mile Cross on 
Sunday, 7th September. The match ended in a defeat by 54-47. 
Andrew Smith, Brian Binstead and Tom Baldwin (skip)
were the only winning rink with a score difference of +3.

Bryan Humphries, Team Captain, received two shields for

* Runners up in the Division 2 final.                             
                    
The presentation was made by
Mr Ron Etheridge, President, Royal County of 
Berkshire Bowling Association at the club's annual dinner dance on 29th November 2008.
